Pet Internal Medicine in North Kingstown

At The Village Veterinary Center, the health and well-being of pets in our community is important to us, and we know that your pet’s health and well-being is important to you. Our ideal is to help you keep your pet healthy by detecting and preventing disease, but we are also expert in making a diagnosis, providing treatment options, and delivering expert medical care when your pet is ill or injured.

Because pets are susceptible to a vast array of serious diseases, many of which are completely preventable, curable, or manageable when detected early, we recommend annual or bi-annual check-ups to detect new or hidden health threats.

Our team is experienced and highly qualified in preventive medicine, treatment for degenerative disorders and chronic illness, addressing injuries and infections, and all aspects of medical care for your pet. We provide diagnoses, information, and treatments in the following areas of internal medicine:

For very complicated or rare cases, we offer you the option to consult with veterinary specialists who exclusively treat specific conditions, including cardiology and oncology (cancer) experts, orthopedic surgeons, and other specialists. Our contacts are your contacts.

Pet Diagnostic Imaging

When a pet owner senses that a pet is suffering from an unidentified health condition and needs treatment, diagnostic imaging is often the first step of the veterinary process. Diagnostic imaging is used to view an animal internally to look for broken bones, foreign bodies, congestion, inflammation, and other abnormalities. The Village Veterinary Center has several diagnostic capabilities available to our patients and clients.

Digital radiography, an enhanced x-ray whose image is viewed on a monitor instead of traditional film, is one of the most useful diagnostic imaging options we offer. It is ideal for identifying conditions like respiratory tract infections and bowel obstructions because it produces images quickly, with more clarity than traditional film x-rays.

Diagnostic Pet Testing

Employing state-of-the-art in house diagnostic equipment, we are able to rapidly provide comprehensive blood analysis for many chronic, acute, and emergency situations. Available blood analytes include screening of major organ systems, evaluation of blood sugar, electrolytes, and blood protein levels. An in-house CBC (complete blood count) machine is used to quickly evaluate blood cell parameters, providing vital information when infection, inflammation, or blood loss is suspected.

Additional in-house testing is available for urine analysis, diabetic monitoring, and microscopic evaluation for skin and ear infections, as well as needle biopsies of cancerous and non-cancerous growths.
