Dog and Cat Teeth Cleaning in North Kingstown

Routine and preventive dental care is vital to your pet’s long term health. Pets with poor oral hygiene invariably develop plaque and tartar which in turns leads to periodontal disease, or loss of the supporting structures of the teeth (gums, ligaments, and bone). Periodontal disease, in turn, can contribute to diseases of the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. The Village Veterinary Center offers a full range of dental services including dental evaluations, dog and cat teeth cleanings, dental surgeries, as well as home care instructions for keeping your dog’s or cat’s teeth clean and healthy.

Cat and Dog Dental Evaluations

Our veterinarian perform oral evaluations on all patients as part of every comprehensive physical exam. Puppies and kittens will be examined to detect developmental problems with their deciduous (baby) teeth, missing or extra teeth, as well as assessing for proper alignment of the teeth and normal jaw development. Adults and senior pets will be evaluated for the accumulation of plaque and tartar, periodontal disease, enamel loss, as well as the development of any abnormal growths or tumors.

Pet Dental Surgery

Certain dental or oral conditions may require the use of general anesthesia to safely and effectively manage. The Village Veterinary Center provides veterinary dental services ranging from routine cleaning and polishing (dental prophylaxis), to surgical dental extractions needed to manage and treat more severe disease conditions. We are equipped with state-of-the-art dental surgical equipment, anesthetic delivery and monitoring equipment, and anesthetic recovery and pain-management protocols (see Surgical Services for more information). All of this, combined with extensive training and practice in all manner of dental procedures, gives us the necessary skills and expertise to provide your pet with a safe and advanced dental procedure.
