About The Village Veterinary Center in North Kingstown

The Village Veterinary Center, a small family business, was launched in Wickford, Rhode Island in the spring of 2014 by Dr. David Bergmann and his wife, Gioia Bergmann. As a modern, full service animal hospital, The Village Veterinary Center uses leading edge equipment and time trusted techniques to maintain the health and well-being of their patients. Forming lasting relationships of trust and consideration with pet owners is one of their highest priorities.

Our Community

We are located in the historic district of Wickford Village, a pet-friendly town with charming street life, where dogs are welcome, including in several shops and in restaurants’ outdoor dining areas. Along the sidewalks, bowls of drinking water and dog snacks are a common sight. The practice is housed in the former Wickford Flowers building, a fixture in the Village for over 100 years. Known for its appealing architecture, distinctive street clock, and greenhouse, the flower shop has long been considered the gateway to the Village. In the building’s transformation to an animal hospital, we preserved the original character of the building and repurposed the greenhouse as part of the reception area. What We Stand For

Dr. David Bergmann and Gioia Bergmann each have many years of experience as veterinary professionals, and they have lifelong experience loving and caring for their own pets. Both the Bergmanns grew up in animal-loving families, and from childhood, they have each experienced the companionship, interest, and often much humor of living with animals. Their lifelong love of animals and the fulfilling bonds they have shared with their own pets were instrumental in leading them to careers in veterinary medicine. The entire team at The Village Veterinary Center is motivated and inspired by the love and affection they bear for their pets, and also by a deep appreciation of how animals and humans enrich each other’s lives.

At The Village Veterinary Center, you and your pet will receive compassionate care by a team of well-trained professionals dedicated to providing the best in veterinary care and client services.

I have seen a few vets in the area, and no one compares. Everyone in the practice actually cares for me and my nervous rescue dog. They take the time to answer my questions (no matter how silly). Even my dog walks in wagging her tail vs tucking it in.
